Parent Teacher Association
As soon as your child joins the Junior School you automatically become a member of the PTA. The committee arranges a variety of events, bringing the school community together to enjoy ourselves whilst raising funds to benefit the children at the school.
Last Year the PTA put on the following events:
And we raised over £5000.
The school greatly values the contribution and involvement of parents, relations and carers, and children have directly benefited from the PTA fundraising in the following areas.
Class Reps
We have class reps who help to recruit volunteers for the above events. Volunteers would need to do any of the following - shopping, manning a stall, clearing up, sorting donations, counting money, wrapping presents, send out raffle tickets, issue disco tickets....and would be a contact for info on the PTA.
You wouldn't need to attend PTA committee meetings if you can't make it, although it would be lovely if you did. Most of the communication would be through email or text message, from the committee to the rep to the class parents.
If you would like to be a class rep, please contact a member of the committee.
Christmas Events 2010
Secret Presents Room
This is an opportunity for your child to buy presents for 2 special people in their lives. On Tuesday 7 December we will have a Mufti Day. The children can wear their own clothes to school and in return we ask them to bring in 2 gifts: 1 for a man and 1 for a woman. The gifts will be sold at prices ranging from 50p to £4.00. Suitable gifts would be: toiletries, chocolates, stationery and sports related goods, only be sure it's something you might like to receive yourself! Please no scissors, knives, corkscrews, glass bottles or alcohol, we cannot sell these to children. Any spare wrapping paper and gift tags, ribbon and bows you have would be really helpful too. On Friday 10th December, children can bring money (up to £5) to purchase gifts. They will then be wrapped by the children at school, ensuring they remain a surprise!
Family Christmas Disco - Friday 10th December 6.45 to 9.30pm
This popular event gives you the opportunity to start the Christmas celebrations with your family and friends at SPJS.
We have an adult seating area in the Centenary Hall with adult liquid refreshments and snacks, and a children's kiosk selling soft drinks and crisps. During the evening we have a Christmas Raffle with a great range of prizes for all the family.
This is a family event, and all children must have adult supervision for the evening. No individual children's tickets can be sold. Tickets are £5 per adult and £3 per child.
